Helena is a PhD student affiliated to KU Leuven, Belgium and King’s College London, United Kingdom. She is supervised by Prof. Jan D’hooge (KU Leuven), Prof. Jan Deprest (KU Leuven) and Prof. Tom Vercauteren (King’s College London). Helena’s research focuses on creating intelligent tools, that automate aspects of the pelvic floor disease assessment clinical workflow. Helena works closely with clinical partners to develop tools that are interpretable while reducing operator error and saving clinicians time. Her research to-date has mainly focused on Ultrasound images, semantic segmentation, landmark regression and plane detection.

Before starting her PhD in 2018, Helena completed an integrated Master’s degree (MPhys) in Physics at the University of Bath, United Kingdom.
