Lorena is a current MRes/PhD student within the 1+3 EPSRC CDT in Smart Medical Imaging. Her research project centers on AI-driven radiosurgery planning for brain metastasis and is supervised by Mr. Jonathan Shapey and Prof. Tom Vercauteren. Lorena earned her MEng in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London. During this period, she undertook a Year in Industry placement as a Data Scientist in the Oncology Department at AstraZeneca, where she collaborated in multiple preclinical projects analysing genetic and proteomics datasets. Since then, she has developed a keen interest in the synergy between AI and healthcare.
